is the epitome of all sins, and in a sense, every single sin is
a sin of pride. What is pride? Pride is making more of oneself than
he should. Pride is thinking more of oneself than he ought. Pride
is setting oneself up above your mate, your parents, your friends…
even above God. Pride is worshipping oneself. Pride is the absence
of humility. A prideful person will give no thought to his neighbor
when tempted to steal from his neighbor. A prideful person will
give no thought to his neighbor’s wife when he is tempted to commit
adultery with his neighbor’s wife. A prideful person says to himself
that he has no need of divine guidance and aid. A prideful person
will give no thought to his Maker when tempted to grieve His majesty
and reproach His authority with yet another sin against Him. A prideful
person will refuse to humble himself when he sees that he is in
error, and will be stubborn and obstinate when corrected for sin
or for mistake.
was a great and holy angel of God at one time. He actually had the
duty of guarding the upper part of the throne of the Almighty God.
He was also a musician. But one day he said in his heart, “I will
be my own God”, and for this sin of PRIDE he was kicked out of heaven.
He would no longer submit unto the true God, but lived as if he
were his own ruler, his own king, his own master. This is pride.
you are guilty of pride, you are a “child of the devil”. You are
just like Satan, an obstinate rebel. A prideful man is as worthy
of hell as the devil himself! If you are guilty of pride, you are
moral scum - utterly wretched and vile. You must see this
if there is any hope for you. You must come to grips with the fact
that you have set yourself up as your own deity and have rejected
God’s authority and have become His bitter enemy. Even if you reject
it in theory, in practice you act as if all the world, and even
God Himself, should submit unto you rather than you humbling yourself
and submitting unto God, and in meekness esteem others better than
yourself. Unless you repent, HELL is going to be your eternal home.
DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
10: The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor:
let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. The wicked
boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom
the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance,
will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His
ways are always grievous; Thy judgments are far above out of his
sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. He hath said
in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue
is mischief and vanity… Break thou the arm of the wicked and evil
man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. The Lord is King
for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of the land. Lord,
thou has heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their
heareth, thou wilt cause Thine ear to hear…
16:18-19: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty
spirit before a fall. Better is it to be of an humble spirit with
the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
29:23: A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour
shall uphold the humble in spirit.
7:20-23: That which cometh out of a man, that defileth the man.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness,
deceit, lasciviousness (or lust), an evil eye, blasphemy, PRIDE,
foolishness: All these things come from within, and defile the man.
2:3-8: Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but
in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the
things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ
Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon
Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself,
and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
John 2:15-17: Love not the world, neither the things that are
in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father
is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the PRIDE of life, is not of
the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth
4:6: God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the
humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh
to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts,
ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter
be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves
in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
yourself before your Maker today! Acknowledge that you are just
a worm in His sight, compared to His majesty. Acknowledge that He
is worthy to rule over you for all of your life, and submit unto
Him. Do His will. Worship Him forever!
