Do you drink alcohol to the point of intoxication? Do you guzzle beer, or sip margaritas, or gulp down shots of whisky until your mind is temporarily handicapped, your vision blurred, your reflexes delayed, your judgments impaired? I didn’t ask if you do it regularly, but do you ever get drunk? If so, you are a drunkard. No, your drunkenness is not an illness (although there are genetic tendencies to addictive behavior). No, your intoxication is not inevitable - you can help it. No, it’s not the fault of your wife, or your boss, or your depression, or your ill health. No, it does not make your sin any better if you get a “designated driver”. Your headaches are no excuse for your drunkenness. And yes, Jesus did turn the water into wine, but he was no bartender! Just because people drank wine at a wedding, that does not mean they drank it in excess to the point of intoxication!!! Yes, God made alcohol, and no, it is not a sin to drink it in moderation. But drinking it in excess is clearly sin in the Bible, and it will damn your soul to hell forever. Yes, God made the marajuana plant (also cocaine, etc.), and it has its purposes in the medicine cabinet of some - I have even prescribed an approved form of it myself for some patients. But to take marajuana or any drug simply to get “high” is wicked. Stop justifying your wickedness!!!

Drop the “Woe is me” attitude. You lowlife drunks and dope fiends nauseate your Maker. You need to be more concerned about God and your neighbors than yourself. You need to be more caught up in what brings Him pleasure and what eases His grief than what brings you pleasure and eases yours. God cares about you - He wills that you live sober for your good and the good of those around you. He gave you a mind and expects you to be a good steward of your mental faculties. To drink alcohol to the point of intoxication (or to use any drug for illegitimate purposes, for that matter) in order to numb your conscience, diminish your mental faculties, and pervert your senses, is poor stewardship of your body and destructive to your health. Wake up, before it’s too late! Drop the booze immediately and live clean and sober for the glory of God!


I Corinthians 6:9-11: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Galatians 5:19-21, 24: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred… wrath, strife, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God… And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Deuteronomy 21:19-21: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

Luke 12:42-46: And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him asunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

I Corinthians 5:9-13: I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Habakkuk 2:15: Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Proverbs 23:19-21,29-35: Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags… Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Ephesians 5:17-18: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit


You drunks and dope fiends need to drop the chemical addictions. You need to get addicted to Jesus and the Holy Bible! You need to get around sold-out Christians for encouragement and trash your drug buddies and drinking pals. Call on Jesus’ name for mercy, and do it now. If you die in an unrepentant state, you will go to HELL and there you will weep, wail, and gnash your teeth forever!
