Dishonoring your parents is no small sin. It is a grave crime in Godís sight. Your parents brought you into this world. Your mother carried you for nine long months, likely nauseous for much of that time. Many women vomit all of the time when they are pregnant. Your parents fed you, clothed you, and put up with your crying as a baby, your dirty diapers, your slobbering and whining. They bathed you when you were dirty. They made sure you didnít stick hangers in electrical sockets, swallow their medicine, chew on electrical wires, etc. Why donít you appreciate them for giving you life and caring for you? Where is the gratitude?

So, they are not as ďcoolĒ as you and your friends. Maybe they have their faults. But you should treat them as you would want to be treated by your child when you are a parent. Would you want to be cursed, slandered, and treated poorly by your child when you are a mom or dad? What would you do if your child was bitter, ungrateful, and treated you like you treat your parents? I guarantee you that you wouldnít like it one bit!

Jesus taught that honoring your parents meant taking care of them when they got older (Matthew 15:1-9). The commandment to honor your parents isnít nullified when you leave the house. Children are obligated to see that their parents are cared for when they are older.

If you dishonor your parents, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are a wicked child! You have not loved your parents as you would want to be loved. You have not treated them as you would want to be treated. If you honor your heavenly Father as you should, then you will also honor your earthly father and mother. If you dishonor them, then, without a doubt, you dishonor God. You are going to die an early death and then split HELL wide open, if you donít change your ways!

Exodus 20:12: Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Ephesians 6:1-3: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Repent of your sins! You must change your ways, begin to honor and love your parents. Show them the respect they deserve, and God commands that you give them. Obey them without murmuring and complaining. Young people, you are not your parentsí equal. You should submit unto their authority and stop giving them lip. Confess your sin to God, and then confess your sin to your mother and your father. Trust in Jesus for forgiveness and it will be granted unto you.
